Commerce East – What defines us?

What defines us? Since this month is Black History month, we question ourselves, what defines us? We know of the greats who fought adversity and broke barriers to etch their names in history. Their trials have open doors for us to opportunities we otherwise would not have. Whether it is equal rights for people of all colors, women suffrage, accessibilities for individuals with disabilities, someone out there spoke up, fought, and by their actions improved our lives. But, sometimes, we fail to acknowledge those around us that make our lives a little richer.

So, with that said, we will begin to feature a staff from Commerce East each month on our blog. These are the people that define us here at Commerce East. Our clients here define us as well, but for confidentiality purposes, we will not be able to feature them individually.

To begin, this month’s feature staff is Shane. For the past seven years, Shane has brought laughter and acceptance to Commerce East and still does every day he is here. His bright personality and overall likeability has made him one of the most popular and recognizable staff here. Every client knows his name. Every staff calls for him when they need help.

Here are a few things about Shane:

Shane

Shane likes the colors purple and chartreuse. His favorite movie is the Bent. His favorite actress is Bette Davis. The Diving Bell and the Butterfly is his favorite book to date. Some of his favorite activities are camping, sitting around a bon fire, swimming, and horse back riding whenever he gets the chance. Indian curry is his favorite food.

Music, nature, and people are things that inspire Shane in life; music, because it gives him goose bumps when he listens to it, nature because it is complex and fast. He finds people’s needs, their backgrounds, tragedies and cultural differences fascinating. And, perhaps, it is those fascinations that have drawn him to PAI. He has a drive to help people and through the years have learned that life is meant to be lived. He believes that one should have fun and make fun of life.

What defines you? Please feel free to share with us.
